In the early 80s, there was a band that dominated the club scene like no other. In the heyday of the Jersey circuit, their record of prominence over all the other bands was unchallenged. The band was called Crystal Ship, and their show, titled “Renaissance Of The Doors,” packed clubs and theaters up and down the East Coast.
The band had its beginnings in the late 70s, before tribute bands even existed, featuring singer Joe Tag. They succeeded in capturing that spirit beyond all expectations. When they sold out their first self-promoted shows, agents and clubs soon came running. Six months to the day after that first show, Crystal Ship sold out the Capitol Theater in Passaic, marking the first of three times they would achieve this remarkable feat.
Soon, the band was breaking attendance records at all the biggest clubs on the East Coast and performing regularly at concert venues such as the Capital Theater, the Tower Theater in Philadelphia, and the Paradise Theater in Boston. They also made their mark on the East Coast amusement park circuit, with regular sold-out appearances at the Great Adventure arena, typically on July 3rd, the anniversary of Jim Morrison’s death. Many live broadcasts of their shows aired on stations like WPLJ in New York and WYSP in Philadelphia.
Enhancing the aura of Crystal Ship was a concert-sized light show and sound system. The group utilized road crews that had worked on major tours with bands like Aerosmith and Meat Loaf. They occasionally performed alongside the famed Joshua Light Show, which had toured with the original Doors. Reviews of their shows marveled at the vibrant scene created by the band and the tight musicianship exhibited by its members, often comparing them favorably to major touring acts, including the Doors themselves.

Now, Crystal Ship is back in the 21st Century! To honor the spirit and accomplishments of the original members, an all-new Crystal Ship has been formed with a fresh lineup. Leading the band is veteran Doors tribute singer Eddie Racci, who has performed across North America and internationally with the Doors tribute band Break On Through, as well as alongside former Doors guitarist Robby Krieger.
Joining the band is keyboardist Mac Chamberlin, who will be playing the vintage Gibson G-101 organ, Fender Rhodes bass, and other classic keyboards. Mac is a veteran of the New Jersey Rock scene. On drums, playing his mod orange Ludwig drums like John Densmore, is Van Jones, a seasoned blues, jazz, and rock n roll drummer who has played the greater Philadelphia area circuit for decades. On guitar, Eric Senderoff will play his authentic Cherry SG, similar to the one Robby Krieger used, and he is a long-time pioneer in the tribute scene, having toured with the Rolling Stones and Tina Turner Tributes.
On bass will be Steve Cialino, a veteran of the Tri-State Rock scene and a hard rock session player for over three decades.
